Hello!

My name is Melanie Hui and I'm a junior at San Juan Hills High School.  I've been interested in art ever since I was a little kid, learning to use art as a way to process and explore the world around me.  My art is typically themed after whatever life experiences I am facing at the time, inspired both from outside events and personal struggles.

While my earlier art pieces tend to focus more on the technical aspect of realism, I've been trying to expand my style to include more conceptual aspects of the world.  My goal is to capture different emotions within common themes and patterns that repeat throughout my portfolio, almost like an author's motif. 

 

I specialize in charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and oil, although I typically like to employ many different mediums in each art piece.  Recently I've been trying to push outside my comfort zone and experiment with different textures and styles that I can add to my works.
